the parish and to share fellowship. This is our principal contact point with those of our congregation who most need attention and companionship.

Newcomer Committee. The Newcomer Committee assists the entire parish in assuring that the warm welcome we intend for all visitors and newcomers is given them. Divided into geographical sections in Greater Green Valley, members of the Newcomer Committee telephone and/or visit newcomers to assist them in whatever way seems appropriate and welcoming.

The Newcomer Committee is in addition to the volunteer who makes the initial home visit to newcomers bringing with him/her parish information.

Coffee Volunteers. The coffee volunteers assist in making our coffee hour smooth and successful. They assist by filling coffee carafe's and juice pitchers, and making sure all is well with the tables for the coffee hour.

   The Lay Ministry

Marge Perry, Coordinator of Lay Ministry

Lay Eucharistic Visitors. Lay Eucharistic Visitors are trained by the Rector or a person appointed by the Rector. They are licensed by the Rector to take Communion to those who are unable to attend Sunday or weekday

service or a major feast such as Christmas or

Easter. Lay Eucharistic Visitors take some of the consecrated bread and wine from a principal service to  those who have requested Communion, and thereby maintain the participation of those who are shut in or disabled either temporarily or permanently. Contact the Rector for further information or to request Communion.

Transportation Committee. The Transportation Committee offers free transportation to church members for medical/medically related reasons. The parishioner receiving this service must be able to get in and out of a vehicle without assistance. The drivers are not able to accommodate wheelchairs. Typically, transportation will not be provided for hospital admittance or release.

Greeters. Greeters provide an important ministry and are a vital part of St. Francis friendliness to visitors who attend Sunday morning worship services. The  primary purpose of the Greeters is to engage newcomers in conversation - to listen and respond to their needs.

Pastoral Care Group. The Pastoral Care Group consists of volunteers who visit and serve the needs of ill and shut-in members of the parish. Members visit shut-in's on a regular basis to keep them in contact with the life of

St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church
