a fire to hear the stories of creation or the words of prophets, the youngsters sit and encounter the Bible stories and their first lessons.

Primary

Fourth to sixth grade

Led by Mr. Patrick Ongley

Primary has a structured lesson plan that, at this age, starts to go along with the lessons in church each Sunday.  This helps parents to start working with their children, because they are familiar themselves with the content of the lesson.  The children in this age group start to become familiar with the books of the Bible as the read passages, which pertain to each lesson.

Secondary

Seventh to High School

Led by Grace Johnson

Our young adults start preparing themselves, with the help of their mentor, for the changes that are occurring in their lives and their missions in life as they continue go grow spiritually.

Our Sunday school is starts at 10:00 am each Sunday morning.

Youth Group

As our youth begin to grow they are learning that you can mix fun with community service.  The youth also have fun activities that they do such as going bowling, lock-ins and even going to the movies.

The youth each Christmas make care packages that we take to a nursing home.  The children hand deliver them to the residents as well as singing  carols to them.

During Lent we have our traditional pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday.  The children serve the parish  and fun is had by all.  The proceeds of the pancake supper go to our campership fund, which helps to send our children to Chapel Rock each summer. We also do bake sales during lent with the proceeds going to charity.

Summer Sundays

Summer Sundays is a program for the children during the summer when Sunday School is out.  We have crafts, movies, snacks and other fun things that we do.  This program was started so that the children would have something to do while their parents are in church.

  Youth and Young Family Programs

St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church

ministry of St. Francis in-the-Valley Episcopal Parish... a safe and welcoming place where young people and their families pursue their spiritual journeys...

Our Youth and Young Family Ministry programs help young people and their families face the day-to-day challenges of living lives that are true to their spirituality.

Traditional church school programs tell children about God. Here, our activities exist to invite an experience of the Divine. We encourage questioning, dialogue and wrestling with the mystery.

Many children come to experience God in nature. Others during quiet times, in the wisdom of parables, through social action or participation in ritual at home.

We're here to serve families of all ages, sizes and types as they pursue their spiritual journeys and grow together with the greater community.

Young people as they explore themselves and their relationship with society, family and friends. Scripture, church history, tradition and reflection provide the paradigm for transformation and growth as young people explore who and how they are to be in the world.

All young people are urged to join the church

service at the time of Eucharist.

Each Sunday morning we provide programs for four age groups.
