What is Stewardship? It is a part of our faith journey which includes three primary elements: Time, Talent, and Treasure. As St. Francis of Assisi taught: “It is in Giving that We Receive.”

Time and Talent Commitment Descriptions

WORSHIP MINISTRIES
Acolyte/ Crucifer
As a part of the Altar party they process and recess and assist during the service.

Altar Guild
Altar Guild members prepare the church/chapel altar for Sunday and Wednesday Eucharist and other special services. Facilitate flower honorariums and the distribution of the flowers to those celebrating special occasions after the service.

Audio/Visual Team
The Audio/Video team enables our parishioners and visitors from near and far to participate in St. Francis church services via online and provides enhanced audio for all.  The services can be viewed “Live” or at any time one chooses.

Bell Choir
The Bell Choir performs periodically during the year. Regular practice is required.

Greeters
Greeters are at our doors before services to welcome all, but especially visitors. They help with familiarization, offer name tags and request information for follow-up. They invite visitors to join us for coffee hour and introduce visitors to the clergy.

Lectors
Lectors read the appointed scriptures and prayers of the people during the service.

Choir
The choir leads the music during services and sings an anthem. The choir performs from late Fall to mid-Spring. Membership requires commitment and regular participation.

Ushers
Ushers present the service bulletin to parishioners and visitors upon their arrival, assist with seating, collect the offering and coordinate the flow at the communion rail. They answer questions, give directions and assist as needed.

Praise Team
A team of musicians and singers who offer contemporary Christian music at the monthly Saturday service and occasional Sunday or Special service.

PASTORAL CARE MINISTRIES
Daughters of the King
This is an international order for women in the Episcopal Church and churches in communion with it, whose members pledge themselves to a lifelong program of prayer, study, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ’s reign and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her church.

Lay Eucharistic/Home Visitors
Lay Eucharistic/Home Visitors are a vital part in embodying the reality of the church as community. They represent the church to those whom they visit, reminding them that the sick and infirm are an integral part of our community, the body of Christ.

Prayer Chain
Prayer Chain members commit to pray for people requesting prayer for specific needs. It is named “chain” because it “links” those in need with those praying, amplifying the power of prayer, while connecting with a Power greater than us. St. Francis’s mission is to cover our church leadership, members, and the wider community with petitions and praise. We are committed to nurturing a culture where prayer is our first response, not our last resort, requesting God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Memorial Receptions
At the direction of the family, team members prepare and serve light food and refreshments to family members and friends following a burial service as an expression of support to those grieving the loss of their loved one.

SOCIAL MINISTRIES
Men’s Group
Meets Tuesday mornings, alternating between serious discussion of life and faith issues and breakfast and social interaction.

Social Activities Team
Arranges all fellowship activities throughout the year.  The goal is to have an activity every month facilitating the building of community.

Solo Journeyers
Parish members traveling through their life without a significant partner meet regularly to share conversation, food, wine, activities, laughter, and companionship.

SERVICE MINISTRIES
Loving Our Neighbors (Outreach)
The St. Francis in the Valley LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS committee reaches out to those in need in many creative ways, through support of world-wide outreach projects and through support of local/area-wide outreach projects. Some require steady weekly or monthly commitments, some are special one-time events, some involve almost everyone in the church, and some involve only a few folks. The Committee is dedicated to using our hearts and hands to serve the marginalized, the broken and those in need.  Should you be interested in any of the projects listed or would like a project to be considered, the committee welcomes new ideas along with hands-on and financial support.

Boutique Assistants
The Boutique is a gift shop offering beautiful unique merchandise at discount prices, open every Sunday after the 9:00 a.m. service.  It is a vital ministry for St. Francis as all profits go to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund, which is solely used to help those in need in the Green Valley Community.

Creation Care-Green Team
We model and teach practical skills to live in harmony with our environment by reducing, reusing, recycling and repurposing.  We meet formally and informally on a regular basis to support and learn about projects that will benefit St. Francis and the community.  News from the Pews, the weekly newsletter, shares tips that help to accomplish these goals.  We’ve also added a good will ambassador, Sully, (a rescued Sulcata tortoise) to convey successful stories and tips from the parishioners.   We enthusiastically welcome you to join us as together, we care for creation.
