Music at St. Francis

Our faithful volunteer Choir members are, and always have been, the backbone of the music program at St. Francis in the Valley. The Choir meets to rehearse every Thursday afternoon at 2 PM and returns for a short rehearsal before singing the Sunday service.
The St. Francis Parish Choir will begin their 2022 fall season with a rehearsal in the Choir Loft on Thursday, September 22 at 2 pm. If you are interested in joining the choir—a congenial and always interesting group—please get in touch with Gerald (Choirmaster) via email at gerald@stfrancisgvaz.org.  He will be delighted to hear from you. Singers are needed in all sections of the choir, but especially tenors. You are not required to read music or to have an extensive background as a vocalist; a decent singing voice and a willingness to learn is all that’s required. We will reward you with first-class professional training. Gerald

Extra services are required at Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week and Easter, and the Choir sings a Stations of the Cross service during Lent. The style of music is traditional with a repertoire drawn from sources both ancient and modern.
Make A Joyful Noise with Handbells
St. Francis’s handbell choir will begin rehearsals in October. We meet on Tuesdays at 10 am in the Choir Loft. The time is subject to change, depending on what works best for all players. Who can ring? Anyone who can count to four and keep a steady beat. Handbell ringing provides an excellent way of getting involved in worship services as well as a great opportunity for fellowship with other parishioners. Won’t you consider ringing with us? If you are interested in joining or have questions, please contact Sophia Witte at smw_witte@yahoo.com or 520-509-5037. Sophia
